Repair processes for traditional furniture really do require traditional techniques and ours have been learned and honed through years of hands on experience, passed down through 3 generations, and will rarely be possible via quick fixes and modern materials. Please bear in mind when working on antique furniture, retaining value is of huge importance so it's vital to ensure that the work is carried out on such items are achieved using the specific skills and experience.

Which Polish is right for my furniture?

French polishing is a wood finishing technique that results in a very high gloss surface, with a deep colour and reflective nature. It is softer than modern polishes and is particularly sensitive to spills of water or alcohol, which often produce white cloudy marks. Our service can restore the finish, blending the polish on the damaged areas seamlessly into the rest of the piece.

Along with providing a high quality French Polishing service for the home owner or business customer, Barrdale French Polishers is proud to offer a FREE collection and delivery service on all orders over £75.00.
Our team cover most of the UK every week to collect and deliver items of furniture from your home, office or your client.
For the benefits of our clients, we use a long wheelbase or Luton van which allows us to transport large and bulky items of furniture.
You can always rely on our friendly team who will load unload your furniture to the room of your choice with no extra cost to you.
My Dining tabletop is damaged can you match the old finish? 

Yes! Our skilled craftsmen and craftswomen are experts in matching colours and finishes, trim, molding, and more.
How do we restore furniture?

We first consider partial restoration. Depending on the extent of the damage, the damaged furniture may either be repaired and refinished or we will completely strip by hand the old finish off and totally re-polish the damaged area. All areas will be refinished to match the damaged area.
Why is better to repair than replace?

It doesn’t make financial sense to replace quality furniture that can be restored. Use this example: If your car’s bumber has a dent, you don’t replace the whole car. You replace the bumber  and a little painting. Similarly, you don’t replace a restorable piece of furniture.
